A 36-year-old Silverback Gorilla called Pertinax from Paignton Zoo in south-west England showed sharp reflexes to catch a tomato.

In the video, filmed on June 1, Pertinax keeps beckoning his keeper with his arms and clapping his hands to encourage him to throw food.

Eventually, a tomato is thrown in his direction from a distance - seen here 24 seconds into the clip.

The throw is a little wayward, in front and to the right of Pertinax. Nonetheless, the silverback catches it with ease as he cooly sticks out his right palm.

This Gorilla would make a good goalkeeper for the Liverpool Football team at least this one can actually catch! I slowed down this bit, so you're able to see how perfectly he can catch that tomato and with no effort at all. When he has enough, he walks off upright back into his inside enclosure. Pertinax can certainly catch and he's a bit of an animal!
