Bridleless in Norco

Lasair going Bridleless.

I would have told you this was impossible before. In fact, when I bought him from the breeder at 3 years old, everyone who met him said he was going to kill me. We've come a long ways together!

My cordeo is a stirrup strap, held together by vetwrap and duct tape. I attached my Paracord Extender on it so it's easier to hold without me reaching forward all the time. It actually worked perfectly. Love it! I'll look into making something nicer, this was just a prototype. There aren't a lot of people selling leather cordeos out there so I'll have to get one custom made, I suspect.

Lasair was wonderful. I'm very proud of him and our relationship. We did everything that we would normally do to really test out this Bridleless thing. I don't have the fine tuned steering that I do with reins...but it's also our first time...I'm sure we'll only get better. What i look at is his attitude. Does he want to be with me and be my partner or does he want to do his own thing. Bridleless riding has got to be the ultimate test of your relationship - especially the way we ride and the terrain we cover.

Today we encountered over 6 emergency vehicles with full siren blaring, 1 coyote in the middle of our path, several other riders out on trail, river crossings, etc. . It's funny, people that we run into don't even realize that he is Bridleless...it's just not something people look at, I guess. LOL

I hope others can get hope and inspiration for their own journey. Safe Riding!!
