Race to Alaska - The Start

Buy video

The Race to Alaska (r2ak.com) is an annual boat race. It is done without the use of motors in the boats so each boat sails, paddles, rows or peddles (see the video for that) as propulsion. The race is 750 miles long and starts at Port Townsend, WA, USA, and goes to Ketchikan, Alaska. The first leg is to Victoria, Canada. This video is of the 5 AM start at Port Townsend. The music you hear is part of the festivities and has not been added.
