The New Holland Honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae) is one of the most common honeyeater species in south-western Australia. These attractive honeyeaters are often gregarious and are active for most of the day, feeding on nectar or insects and aggressively chasing other honeyeater species away from food sources. This New Holland Honeyeater was sitting quietly in a Broad-leaved Paperbark (Melaleuca quinquenervia) in Lake Monger near Perth preening in the late afternoon sun.
