A safari tourist captured the moment a leopard dove into the water and emerged with a catfish in its mouth.

The uploader told Newsflare that he was driving over a low water bridge when he spotted a young male leopard sitting on the rocks. He was staring down and seemed to be interested in something in the water.

"Suddenly the male leopard jumped with his front legs in the water," he said. "We realized that this leopard was indeed attempting to catch a fish."

The footage was filmed on May 25 in South Africa's Kruger National Park. According to the uploader, antelope prey is scarce during the dry season, and it is during this time that tourists can observe the incredible ability of leopards to adapt and survive through their hunting skills.

Wildlife in the African bush never fail to amuse and there are times during a safari that you get to see more than what you hoped for or even could imagine. Just spotting a leopard on safari is already a very fortunate and special occasion on its own. This male leopard looked very interested in something in the water and kept staring at it. Suddenly the male leopard jumps with his front legs in the water. We realized that this leopard was indeed attempting to catch a fish. Leopards hunting for fish is extremely rare and similar sightings have been recorded only on a few occasions. Even though the leopard missed on his first attempt, he stays persistent and with amazing skill manages to grab a catfish on his second attempt. After showing great patience, the young male leaps forward into the water, pushes his head under the water and to everybody’s amazement pulls out the fish. The young leopard moves away from the water, puts down his catch, and shakes off the water like a true dog after a bath. The leopard finally disappeared into the bush to go and enjoy his freshly caught meal. During the dry season when antelope prey is scarce, leopards have the incredible ability to adapt and survive through their incredible hunting skills.
