Powerful wasp drags big spider across the road

Wasps and spiders are generally two species of animal that petrifies most people. Creepy looking spiders and stinging wasps are what nightmares are made off for many. To see these two very different species interacting in the wild is rare and very fascinating at the same time. During a safari in the Kruger National Park we came across something small moving in the middle of the main road. At closer inspection we were amazed to see an orange and black coloured wasp on top of a large baboon spider. This insect is known as the spider hunting wasp, known to parasitise its prey to provide food for its young on hatching. Even though it looked like the wasp killed the spider, the wasp actually stung the spider and paralyzed it. Once paralyzed, the big spider amazingly gets dragged across the road by this powerful wasp. After crossing the road the wasp disappeared with its prey into the bush very quickly. The spider hunting wasp will drag its prey down a whole made by the wasp. The paralyzed spider will remain in a sealed underground chamber with a single egg laid upon it. Once the egg hatches the spider will then be consumed as food from the inside by the larva.
