Hero fireman squeezes into septic tank to rescue trapped children
A heroic firefighter squeezed into an almost 10-metres deep septic tank through a narrow gap to rescue two children trapped inside.
In the June 14 clip filmed in Guyuan City in northwestern autonomous region Ningxia, firefighters are tying a rope on one of their colleagues – the smallest-framed one of the group – and guiding him down the tank, which is part of a pit toilet. He is seen entering the only 20-cm wide gap without wearing any protective gear.
Firemen sent an oxygen tank down first before starting the rescue, according to reports.
A one-year-old had fallen into the septic tank when he was playing, and one of his parents sent an eight-year-old onlooker to save him. Both were trapped inside.
The two children were rescued successfully and suffered minor injuries.
