People crowded the halls of the Massachusetts State House in Boston on June 20 to protest the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the border, according to media reports.

In the video, protesters can be heard calling for Republican Governor Charlie Baker and Democratic House Speaker Robert DeLeo as they chant, “Governor Baker, Speaker of the House, we want you now.”

The filmer said that both were present in the building, but neither of them came out to speak to the group. 

Later in the day, President Donald Trump reversed direction and signed an executive order to end the separation policy, according to news reports.

The MIRA coaltion organized this demonstration at the Massachusetts State House this afternoon, 6/20/18 as a show of support for immigrant communities in MA. The coalition urges passage of the Safe Communities Act,which has been included in the budget. However, there has been a the lack of action by Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo and Chairman Jeffrey Sánchez to move the bill out of the Conference Committee. Moreover, Governor Charlie Baker has said he will veto the bill.
