This is the shocking moment a bungling Romanian national was spotted driving his lorry the wrong way down a busy MOTORWAY. Hapless Nicusor Paun, 34, even swapped SEATS with passenger Vasile Radoescu, 39, on the M6 Toll. Officers from the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) were called at 7.50pm on July 12 after reports there was a lorry driving south on the northbound carriageway. The pair were eventually stopped near junction T4 of the pay-to-use motorway near Shenstone, Staffs., and arrested. Paun and Radoescu, both of Romania, were both convicted of dangerous driving but were spared jail at Stafford Crown Court on Monday (3/8). Paun was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for 18 months, banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £180 in court costs. Radoescue was given a four-month jail term suspended for 18 months and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £900 in court costs and the pair will both have to take an advanced test before being allowed back on the roads. Shocking video footage shows the white lorry careering down the hard shoulder on the wrong carriageway. In the 1:28 minute clip the giant HGV can be seen driving at high speeds as three lanes of traffic go in the opposite direction. The lorry carries on, ignoring a slip-road to leave the motorway, before eventually performing a U-turn so it is facing the right direction.
