The Little Black Cormorant (Phalacrocorax sulcirostris) is a small, completely black cormorant with a blue-green eye that occurs widely throughout Australia, parts of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and other western Pacific islands and in New Zealand. Little Black Cormorants are mostly found in freshwater wetlands but are also found in sheltered shallow estuaries where they often hunt in large flocks. This bird was perching, drying its wings in the late afternoon sun at Lake Monger, near Perth.
