An act of kindness led to a new future for two stray puppies. We were visiting the tiger cave temple near Krabi, Thailand and came across two young playful puppies, who were trying to reach water from a pond, were clearly very thirsty and it was a very hot day, but they were too small to do reach the pond water. Our son spotted this and scared that they’d fall in and drown, found a way to catch water in his hands so he could help the puppies to quench their thirst. Heartwarming but sad as the pups were clearly strays with no parents or owners to help them and were suffering from many flea bites and a skin condition at their young age which made them scratch until their fur came out in patches. The best part of the story was that we found an animal welfare centre on Koh lanta which did outreach work, including at this temple and they agreed to go back to ‘rescue’ the pups and to ensure the dogs were treated for their skin condition and helped to have a better future.
