Wildlife artist Robert E Fuller captured this extremely rare footage of nocturnal tawny owls drinking and bathing in broad daylight as temperatures in the UK continue to soar. Cooling off in the UK heatwave, these owls were caught on camera displaying near-unprecedented behaviour by artist Fuller who uses surveillance cameras to capture images that inspire his paintings.

“These birds are nocturnal and rarely come out to bathe like this in daylight. But what is particularly unusual is to see a tawny owl drinking. Most birds of prey get their moisture from their food. The first bird can be seen gulping down the water" observed Fuller.
