A refuse collector in Essex has been filmed hurling an entire food waste into a recycling lorry.

A home security camera shows the recycling lorry reversing along a road and stopping in front of the property in Elsenham yesterday (July 2).

Three workers can be seen loading bins onto the back of the lorry. But one man picks up a food waste bin and lobs it into the van.

A resident on the estate who knows the owner of the property said: "I live on the same estate and the attitudes of the staff is bad. I myself had the lid off my recycling bin torn off in the first week of having it. They generally just chuck bins back once they empty them.

"A complaint has been made and the video has been sent to Uttlesford District Council."

A council spokesman said: “We are aware of the video that has been published and will investigate and take appropriate internal action under our employment policies and procedures.”
