Hawaii Big Island Kilauea Volcano Fissure 8 Leilani Estates Huge Lava Fountain With People for Comparison
This shot of Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano flow at Fissure 8 in Leilani Estates was taken during the formation of the cinder cone. Now, there is hardly a lava fountain at fissure 8 because the cinder cone has built up so much that the fissure simply burbles out the top.
This video contains people and vehicles for scale. We were no more than 300 yards away, most likely closer to 200 yards. The lava fountaining from between 175 feet in the air to 400 feet in the air.
