An abandoned American Wild West themed park which has become a real life frontier ghost town - 8,000 miles from the U.S. in a sleepy Thai coastal town.

The complex once included a steak house, line dancing hall with stage, night club, massage parlour, saloon, leather shops, Sheriff's office and even western quarter horses for trail rides.

Locals said 'Cowboy Park' was packed every weekend and the eatery served up the ‘best steaks for miles around’.

But a few years ago foot fall dropped off and the owners upped sticks and left. It now stands empty - apart from carved wooden figures of Apache chiefs and a few chickens and stray dogs.

Passerby Richard Anderson who recorded the scenes on Sunday ( 01/07) said: ''I was just passing through the area. It's very quiet, you could say a one-horse town. But this was the last place I'd have imagined to see an American Wild West themed resort.

''Apparently it was once really busy every weekend and served up the best steaks for miles around. The nightclub used to be packed, my friend to me. I suppose people just lost interest and the place died a slow death. It's a real cowboy ghost town, just like those on the prairies from the 19th century.''
