This furious croc wasn't being caught without a fight - and terrified locals when it suddenly lashed out and SNAPPED at the rescuer's leg.

The 12ft long crocodile was caught on Monday afternoon in a river in Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia, before being tied up on July 2.

As villagers nervously gathered around the creature, it appeared to lull them into a false sense of security by playing dead - then suddenly rearing up and spreading its massive jaws.

The croc lunged at the man's legs sparking shrieks of panic from onlookers. The outburst was caught on camera by a local animal handler who quickly jumped back but said he ''wasn't scared''.

He added: ''The crocodile tried to escape but he wasn't getting anywhere. All four of his limbs were secured. It was scary for some people watching but I was not afraid.''
