Police at the scene of shooting in Ashburton, New Zealand

A video has emerged of police standing guard at the scene of a shooting in Ashburton, New Zealand on Monday.

Two people were killed and a third was seriously injured after a man walked into an unemployment office at around 10:00am local time and opened fire, before fleeing.

According to BBC News, a man has been detained after a seven-hour search around neighbouring areas which ended at around 5:30pm local time.

The footage shows buildings cordoned off by police tape, officers standing guard with guns and helicopters and drones being used to monitor the area.

Ashburton is a small town of less than 20,000 people, about 85km (55 miles) from Christchurch.
