Protests in Marrakech, Morocco 2010
At the age of 23, in 2011, I traveled to North Africa shortly after the Arab Spring had began. I was traveling with an old friend, and the two of us, being sheltered mid western boys, were in search of life experience. At this point in our journey, we were enjoying our time in Marrakech, from which we had traveled via train by way of Cassablanca. As was our understanding, the supporters of the old regime, and the new, would march towards each other starting from opposite ends of the city. As there had been many outbreaks of violent protest, the authorities did the best they could to separate the two marching processions. As you can imagine, this was much easier said than done.
