Rioters lobbed petrol bombs at police on July 12, marking the sixth consecutive night of violence in the Northern Ireland city.

According to local media, the rioters are dissident republicans fighting for a united Ireland. Among the perpetrators were the community's youth, who also reportedly lit a fire on a main flyover.

This video from the night shows petrol bombs being thrown from the hillside towards the parked police vehicles.

Heavy security presence, including officers in riot gear, gathered in the Bogside, the violence coinciding with an Ulster Protestant celebration known as the Twelfth. The area was closed off and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

On Tuesday night, a volley of machine gun fire was directed at officers, and on Wednesday night, two pipe bombs were thrown at police. No one was injured.
