While hiking in Stara Planina mountain, just below Rayskoto Pruskalo ( this is the highest waterfall on the Balkan Peninsula, and its name translates to The Heavenly Sprinkle ) I met a rare but curious animal. The chamois is a real treasure for Central Balkan National Park in Bulgaria. It can also be seen in Rila, Pirin and the Rhodope mountains. The chamois is globally endangered species, and its park populations are globally significant. The Balkan chamois is included in the "EC Habitats Directive, the Bern Convention and it is listed in the Bulgarian Red Data Book.
