My wife and I went to support a family member running in the London marathon. We spotted the cctv cameras above the likely parking spot, parked up
locked and secured the bike with our jackets and helmets chained to the seat. I removed the sat nav and locked it in the top box. On our return the bike and our belongings were gone. I made enquiries in the locality, given the proximity of the security cameras I felt sure that recovery of the bike would be speedy. The police were not interested. The loss was insured, it wasn’t racially motivated, there was no injury and it wasn’t likely to be a high profile theft. I was was not even telephoned for an interview, I spoke only to a call handler when I reported the theft.
I flyposteted the area offering a £1000 reward with no success.
