A 2,500-acre fire broke out on July 23 in Shasta County, forcing evacuations and road closures in the area.

According to local media, the blaze was reported at around 1:15 pm near Highway 299 by Whiskeytown Lake. California Highway Patrol shut down the busy road, causing major traffic congestion in the area due to a lack of viable detour routes. Authorities said it is set to reopen tomorrow morning.

This video, shared to Facebook by Mike Daly, shows the blaze along Highway 299.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
