CCTV captures moment large letter box cabinet falls and traps child beneath it
A fun game of hide-and-seek turned into a nightmare for these kids in the city of Changsha, Hunan province.
CCTV footage from July 24 shows children playing on the ground floor of a housing estate. In between hide-and-seek, two of them fiddle with the door compartments of a metal letter box cabinet when it suddenly collapses to the ground. One of them runs away in time, but the other is crushed underneath the cabinet. Hearing the commotion, three adults come into the room and lift the cabinet off the floor, freeing the injured child.
The boy was hospitalised and treated for injuries on his nose and mouth. Luckily, he did not sustain any major injuries.
Management of the housing estate claimed responsibility for the accident and assured the public that checks will be done to ensure all cabinets are anchored to the walls.
