This is the shocking moment a hot-headed cop was caught on camera slapping a bus driver - who allegedly tried to bribe him.

PO1 Edmar Costo had been directing traffic when he pulled over driver Joel Mametis in Paranaque City, Philippines, on Wednesday (July 25) at 4.30pm after the bus doors were left open.

The driver is heard saying that there was a mechanical error and that he was unable to close them.

But the policeman demands to see his licence before striking the terrified driver twice across the face when he is unable to produce his ID.

Footage of the attack was captured by an outraged passenger Mary Fernandez who was appalled by the policeman's aggression.

The driver claimed that the cop had threatened to ''end you'' if he was seen there again. The policeman is heard in the video saying in Filipino: ''Don't come here again, if you do I'll end you''.

Joel Mametis said: ''I didn't try to bribe the policeman, there's no way I could. I was sitting down. He hit me so hard it affected me and I was dizzy. I blacked out. The policeman said the doors were open but they had malfunctioned, I couldn't close them.''

Officials later called in PO1 Edmar Costo for questioning over the incident and he was publicly disciplined.

The policeman claimed that bus driver Mametis had tried to bribe him to get out of the traffic violation – which Mametis denies.

He has been relieved from his post and transferred to a desk job while officials start criminal proceedings against him for the slap.
