After nearly two months of very little rainfall parts of the southwest, west and northwest of Ireland has seen downpours today giving much needed rainfall to ease drought conditions in parts of the county which has seen very poor growth and a hose pipe ban in place.

Over the rest of this weekend and the early stages of next week further spells of heavy rain are in the forecast as a Atlantic regime sets in before another spell of warm and hot weather looks set to arrive over the Irish August Bank Holiday weekend. With temperatures rising in to high twenties with a area of high pressure drifting across Ireland and the UK from Scandinavia.
