A monster dust storm (also known as a haboob) swept through Tempe, Arizona, on August 2.

In the video, the dust storm can be seen filling the sky as it rolls over the homes below.

“This dust storm reached heights of 6,000 feet and stretched beyond Tempe, covering most of the Phoenix metro area with wind speeds as high as 65 miles per hour,” the filmer said.

I may be used to Colorado tornadoes and blizzards, but the most fun are the Haboobs (a middle eastern name for dust storms) in my new home in Tempe, Arizona. This dust storm reached heights of 6,000 feet and stretched beyond Tempe covering most of the Phoenix metro area with wind speeds as high as 65 miles/hour. Unfortunately, 15 homes were destroyed by the following monsoon thunderstorm on the west side of town, but for most places, when the dust clears you're left with an in person amazing desert weather phenomenon!
