This rescue hedgehog loves using garden sprinklers to cool off in the hot weather.

Sacha the hedgehog lives in Jane Milton's garden in Harrow, London, and is well looked after by her owner.

"She stays in my garden where there are two purpose-built houses and she can live in either - she mainly sleeps outdoor under plants in the summer and hibernates from around October 1 to April 1," says Jane.

Sacha is blind after being attacked by an unknown animal, meaning the summer months can be quite stressful for her.

Jane adds: "She has been unsettled by the heat so I have been making sure she is int he shade as much as I can – as she is blind she is often out during the day which of course she should not be.

"She leans slightly to one side and so often spins around - but if I feel it is getting too much I divert her with food or pick her up and move her."

With temperatures soaring over 30 degrees Celsius in the South-East on the day the video was filmed (August 5), Sacha certainly had the right idea.

A few years ago friends took a rescue hedgehog to live with them. Unusually for a hedgehog, it was about during the day and my old dog used to sit with it and just watch the world go by. The woman who rehomed them had never seen a dog do that and so she allowed me to rehome another, a female .... it subsequently died but in May 2017 i was given this hedgehog to look after, who they have called Sacha. She has one eye but does not seem to see out of it . She was brought to a vet having been attacked. She stays in my garden where there are 2 purpose built houses and she can live in either - she mainly sleeps outdoor under plants ( i have lots of shading) in the summer and hibernates from around 1 October to 1 April. I make sure she has access to water, my dogs seem to deter foxes coming into garden- i have high fences so she should not be able to get out of the garden and my neighbours know i have her too so if ever they see a hedgehog ( there are quite a few) they often check if it is mine. She eats meat flavours of cat food - particularly the 'jelly' varieties , some fruits and berries and currently is loving watermelon, pumpkin seeds, and blueberries . She has been unsettled by the heat so i have been making sure she is int he shade as much as I can - as she is blind she is often out during the day which of course she should not be. She leans slightly to one side and so often spins around - but if i feel it is getting too much I divert her with food or pick her up and move her. i weigh her pre hibernation to make sure she is healthy enough and I often send videos to the lady who nursed her back to health so she can monitor her .
