Monster hail pummeled the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on August 6.

In the video, people are seen running for cover as the massive hail bangs loudly against the roof of a building in the zoo.

Later in the video, a woman is seen holding a piece of hail that looks nearly like the size of a baseball, while a road through the zoo turns into a river of hail.

After the hail storm ends, the filmer discovers the windshield of his rental car has been completely smashed.

“My family and I were enjoying a great day at the zoo and were watching the storm off in the distance to the north,” the filmer said. “We just made our way to the gift shop when the skies turned dark and the wind picked up and the air became cool.”

“At this time, a zoo employee ran outside and shouted ‘get everyone inside’ multiple times,” the filmer continued. “The hail started fast and heavy.”

My Family and I were enjoying a great day at the zoo and watching the storm off in the distance to the north. We just made are way to the gift shop when the skies turned dark and the wind picked up and the air became cool. At this time a zoo employee ran outside and shouted "get every one inside" multiple times. I at this time my wife was down by the entrance of the zoo and my kids were in the gift shop and I was outside on the porch. The hail started fast and heavy. I was unable to get into the gift shop to find my Family and no idea where my wife was. I needed to get into the gift shop so I found a large wicker basket that was holding stuffed animals and placed it over my head and ran through the hail back inside. I found my kids crying and scared. It was about 20 minutes later that we found my wife. She was at the entrance with a father of 2 kids helping him protect his children. After the hail stopped I went to the car to assess the situation and damage. I had a case of water in the trunk of the rental car that had survived the storm and I started to hand out bottles to kids nearby who were scared.
