A group of playing children closely missed an attack from a tiger that had roamed into their village near the India-Nepal Border – thanks to two heroic dogs that managed to scare the beast away.

This video, filmed on August 8 in the Indian village of Katarnia, near Katnariaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, shows the camera pointing to the ground and shaking as the filmer and other villagers screamed ran in panic. Towards the end of the clip, two dogs can be seen chasing the tiger away.

According to the villagers, tigers occasionally cross the river into the village in search for food.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Wildlife is also turning towards human settlements due to the changing weather. In a similar incident, a tiger who entered a village was chased away by some dogs.
More than rainfall, the Terai region (a lowland region in southern Nepal), is being troubled by the hill hamlets of Nepal. Not only the villagers but the wild creatures are also getting disturbed. While the rural people are migrating to safer places, wild animals are wandering in search of grasslands to hunt for food and take rest.
On Wednesday, triggered by the changing weather pattern, a tiger entered the Katarnia village after crossing the Gerua river near the Katarniaghat wildlife sanctuary in the Katarniaghat forest range. There were children playing close by and a group of dogs having some fun time just before the tiger was spotted. The villagers were taken aback by its sight and got worried about the children who were too close to the tiger. In no time, the brave dogs barked at their loudest and chased the tiger away, saving several lives.

The ranger and the SSB troopers reached the spot immediately. The ranger said that with the help received from SSB soldiers and forest workers, the tiger was driven away, towards the Katarniaghat forest. In view of this incident, the residents of the Katarniaghat village have been alerted.

Villagers say that after the arrival of hailstorms, water fills up in Bharatpur across Katarnia. It also enters the forest because of its low height. So, the tigers move out in search of food and dry grasslands, and often cross the river. They can also be spotted on the roads, if the area is a little populated.
Wednesday's incident was an outcome of the same situation. The dogs won everyone's heart in the village.
