This was the terrifying moment a house glided down a hill after a landslide though without breaking up.

Luckily, all the 40 plus residents of the building had been evacuated and no life was lost.

The incident occurred in the hilly city of Mercara in Karnataka, India, on August 16.

Eyewitnesses said the house located near a well-known landmark, Muthappa temple, had been rented out by its owner to a few families.

As the land in the vicinity started slipping officials evacuated all the residents of the house on August 15 and prevented a major disaster.

Officials said more than 100 homes have collapsed in the last three days in Coorg district where Mercara is situated.

Large parts of South India including Kerala and parts of Karnataka have been receiving heavy rains since a week. The unprecedented rains have triggered floods and landslides causing death and destruction of property.

Nearly 87 deaths have been reported from Kerala, the worst affected state, due to the natural disaster.
