This gender-reveal party in the USA went badly wrong when the balloon that was supposed to burst instead sailed off into the sky.

"My husband and I found out our baby’s gender, and revealed it privately to our immediate family," explained Chelsie Hollencamp.

But they decided to host a party at their home in Duluth, Minnesota for their friends and colleagues with the idea being that someone would burst a balloon with a pin revealing either blue or pink confetti.

Unfortunately, the balloon didn't burst when pricked and was forced out of Chelsie's hand and flew off way into the sky.

"After joking about the balloon flying away, and going through the process to get this event together, this was the outcome," said Chelsie.

The incident took place in August 2018.

I feel like the reactions can become inauthentic, and the concept behind a big gender reveal is more about competition and one-upping one another instead of about celebrating a new baby!
