Villagers are helped to cross a swollen river in Vietnam with the help of an excavator as a tropical storm caused heavy flooding.

Footage captured on August 17 in Son La province shows a gushing river caused by tropical storm Bebinca, which hit Thailand, Vietnam and Laos this weekend.

Villagers are seen climbing out of the excavator's digger in order to cross the river.

The storm and subsequent flooding caused at least 21 homes to collapse.

According to the filmer, Due to the effects of storm BEBINCA hit Viet Nam causing heavy rain lasting. The Flash floods have appeared and the village has been split. People had to use excavators to move others out of the flood. People must sit in the bucket of the excavator then the excavators move them to the other side. Flood waters continue to rise. Everybody tries to escape the flood. Floods have divided many areas and swept away many houses after the storm. It is estimated that 21 houses collapsed and many rice fields were flooded.
