A middle-aged American was arrested this morning (August 22) after his blood-covered wife ran screaming into the street in her underwear after allegedly being stabbed.

Nicholas Hillman, 49, was found slumped next to his bed surrounded by meth pipes at his apartment in Pattaya, Thailand.

Police arrived after his 30-year-old wife fled the room and collapsed in the street with knife wounds on her face and the side of her stomach.

Her seven-year-old son was standing next to her. The wife told onlookers that her husband had ''stabbed her while high on drugs''.

Footage shows her in red knickers being treated at the roadside before cops carrying a bamboo pole raided her husband's room where he had locked himself.

Security guard Damrong Arjdee, 49, said he rushed to help the woman after she ran to him in tears at 5am at the Pattaya Condotel Chain.

Damrong said: ''The girl is living on the 13th floor and she had been fighting with her foreign boyfriend.

''Then she came down and she was hurt. She thought her boyfriend was drunk or had taken drugs.

''She said he took the knife and stabbed her then locked the door.

''I went to help her and took her to the police checkpoint.''

Officers arrived at 5.30am and went to Hillman's room carrying a large bamboo pole to hold him back in case he became violent.

But the American was found collapsed face down on his bed. Police handcuffed him and dragged him outside before checking his drawers in which they found several meth pipes and packets of pills.
