Lancashire police officer strikes 14-year-old girl in face with open palm
A Lancashire police officer was seen striking a 14-year-old girl in the face with an open palm during an incident in Accrington, England.
In the video, two police officers are seen trying to restrain a girl when a male officer strikes the girl in the face with an open palm.
After the officer strikes the girl, people witnessing the incident step in to intervene.
The people eventually back away as the officers continue to restrain the girl.
Other officers arrive on the scene as witnesses tell them that one of the officers struck the girl. Two witnesses point directly at the officer who struck the girl.
“The girl was arguing with someone in the town centre in Accrington, Lancashire, at around 5:45 p.m. on August 20,” the filmer said. “The police officer came and grabbed the girl and assaulted her.”
“He used aggressive techniques in how he restrained her,” the filmer added. “It could have been dealt with in a more professional way.”
“As the officers dealt with the incident they used reasonable force to bring the situation under control,” the Lancashire Police said in a statement reported on 2BR. “This involved the use of an open hand strike when a 14-year-old female attempted to grab the officers’ taser and radio. She was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. She has been interviewed and has since been referred to the Youth Offending Team."
