A woman named Sunitha refused to be evacuated from her home during flooding in Kerala, India, without her 25 dogs, AFP reported.

Sally Varma of Humane Society International told AFP that Sunitha “sent back volunteers and rescue officials because they said they could not evacuate her dogs.”

Sunitha, her husband and all of her dogs were eventually rescued and brought to a shelter.

In the video, Sunitha, along with her husband and dogs, can be seen at their home in Thrissur after the floodwaters receded.

Varma started a fundraiser so a kennel could be built at Sunitha's home, AFP reported.

Sunitha, a woman was stranded in her flooded house in Thrissur, Kerala, which is one of the severely affected areas. However, despite the state of turmoil, she refused to leave her 25 dogs behind in that state just so she could be rescued.Her dogs were found heaped on the bed, with fear in their eyes as the water levels continued to rise up. It was rescuer Sally Varma, of the Humane Society International who reached out to Sunita and her family.Sunitha has been rescued along with her husband and dogs. All the dogs have been kept in special shelter camps after the relief camps that have been set up for the rescued, refused to keep the animals.Sally Varma has now taken a initiative and has started a fundraiser to provide amenities to Sunitha and her paws. The funds will also be used to build a kennel at Sunitha’s home after the floods go down.Sunitha is back to her home now after water receded in her area.
