An Australian man burned out his car tyres recently to reveal the gender of his unborn child.

In a video, which was filmed near Melbourne on August 11, the man revs the engine furiously to produce a cloud of pink smoke, indicating that he is expecting a daughter.

The man was himself unaware of the gender of his baby when he climbed into the car.

His partner had spoken in secret to a friend and asked him to coat the tyres in a special paint, which produced the pink smoke.

Organised by the mother-to-be and the father's friend, special paint was added to the tyres to give the smoke effect with another layer of black to keep the secret till the last moment.
