RAW: Three kayakers race down storm drain at 50mph

This was the adrenaline-inducing moment three kayakers in British Columbia went full pelt down a drainage ditch last month (August 21).

The footage, captured on a helmet camera in Lions Bay, north of Vancouver, shows the race as the three slip and slide towards the ocean.

They reached speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, at times spinning violently along the stream of water as their whitewater kayaks head towards the ocean.

Eventually, they regain control and finish in the sea below, where they let out howls of relief.

"Oh my god!" screams filmer Adrian Mattern, a professional whitewater kayaker, when he arrives at the bottom. "I thought someone's gonna die, dude!"
