Rattlenake In Our Path... Guardian of Temple Canyon

Buy video

We spent our Sunday afternoon as usual, exploring the wonders that the Colorado great outdoors have to offer. Not only did we have a perfect day of weather and phenomenal craggy views. We saw our first Prairie Rattlesnake while on a hike in Fremont County near Canon City.
Fortunately a tree had been in my husbands path next to the creek and he was made to hesitate. The huge rattlesnake was sunning herself on a rock ledge just on the other side. Once we got around it and saw her she was slowly moving off and we were able to record her from a short but safe distance. Beautifully full grown she was easily 3 and 1/2 feet long and well fed. We made sure not to startle her, fortunately we never got to hear her rattle.
