Inside the coverack flood 3hours later

We were on holiday in Cornwall, and had been out all day travelling round. We usually ended up Coverack daily to let our dog have a run on the beach. As we headed into the village the rain started but wasn't too bad. By the time we gotten to the sea front it was torrential rain and small floods had appeared. The rain turned heavy and we decided to move our car away from the waterfront. We were on the road out of the village when the main road turned into a torrent of water which then turned the road into a river. I first thought of trying to drive it but it was quickly apparent that this was not an option. I managed to get into a recess were other cars were stranded. It was then a double decker bus rounded the corner which diverted the water around us and stopped all kinds of debris hitting us. Branches, trees, rocks etc. We were stuck for 3 hours in heavy flooding before the emergency services could get to us. Fortunately non of us was injured but I think this was more to do with the bus diverting the flow as several boulders hit the back of the bus. Which stopped them hitting us. We were eventually rescued by the coastguard and were evacuated through a hedgerow into someone's garden
