A backpacker was smashed over the head with a bottle in Koh Phangan, Thailand, on August 27.

The incident happened during the island's Full Moon party, an event popular among young tourists.

According to onlookers, two Thai men started arguing with two tourists sitting outside an all-night grocery shop. They asked one girl, who was eating on the floor, to move away from the shop. This ensued into an argument, during which one of the Thai men grabbed a full bottle of beer and smashed it over her head.

Jakkrit Jantasorn, who attacked the tourist, later apologised for the incident but the woman, later identified as Portuguese backpacker Franco Bebiano, did not make a police complaint and left the island after receiving stitches to her wound.

While CCTV shows the fracas which quickly stopped after the shocking attack, which left the woman covered in blood. The shopkeeper said the dispute started after the men asked the woman to move because she was blocking the entrance. Phattalung Phatthana said: ''The full clip shows who started the argument and how it happened. The men tell the woman not to sit in front of the shop because other tourists can't walk by. The woman then become angry and a fight starts.''

Jakkrit Jantasorn later apologised for the incident but the woman, later identified as Portuguese backpacker Franco Bebiano did not make a police complaint and left the island after receiving stitches to her wound.
