The popular "som tam" papaya salad dish was served up alongside grilled fish and fish balls in Ubon Ratchathani on July 29 at 3pm local time.
Locals traditionally eat the popular salad with salted field crabs - but it is unusual to see live creatures in the dish.
The filmer said: ''It was delicious. This is my favourite food. You have to kill the crabs with your fork.''
