A family that returned to their flood-hit home in Kerala, India on August 30 were stunned to find two cobras dangling from their ceiling fan.

The cobras had washed in with the flood water that had entered their home. They had then managed to get hold of ceiling fan and sought refuge there.

A snake rescuer as well as members of a local organisation helping families with the flood cleanup removed the snakes away and released them to their habitat.

Snakes had washed into many homes in Kerala along with flood waters, local media reported.

After the flood waters receded they stayed put on the ceiling hissing at the intruders.

The incident occurred in Ranni town in Pathanamthitta, which was ravaged by the recent floods in Kerala, India.

Luckily, members of Seva Bharathi, a local organisation, which was helping families clean their homes were also present.

They called a snake rescuer, who took the snakes away, and released them later at their habitat.

Snakes had washed into many homes, along with flood water, in several parts of Kerala keeping local snake rescuers busy.
