Pro-marijuana protesters were confronted by riot police in Colombia's capital, Bogota, as the country takes a harder line on drugs.

Footage filmed on Thursday (September 6) shows protesters waving banners and openly smoking what appear to be joints near Bogota's planetarium.

Clashes reportedly broke out and half a dozen people were injured at the demonstration.

Colombia's constitution currently allows the possession of small quantities of marijuana for personal use.

But new president Ivan Duque is seeking to introduce strict anti-drug laws, recently issuing a decree allowing police to confiscate any drugs consumed in public.
