Three people were injured this morning after a crane fell onto a road in Bangkok this morning.

The construction vehicle was working on an apartment block in the Silom area of the Thai capital when it toppled over - with the operator inside - at 9:20am.

One woman was seriously injured after the crane landed on her car, while a motorcyclist and pedestrian were also taken to hospital.

Rescue workers said the crane fell onto power lines, dragging down five electricity poles. Severals trees, a number of cars and a shop house were also damaged in the incident.

The road remained closed for several hours blocking traffic in the area while workers cleared the debris on the Soi Saladaeng road.
