A leopard, which had suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car, was dragged by it's tail while taking it out of the forest on Saturday. The incident happened on National Highway 31 near Alipurduar's Tegalaga village.
According to the Locals, A leopard was hit by a car on NH-31 between Tegalega and Tasati tea plantations today. The big cat suffered injuries and lied on the road for almost half an hour on the road. Later, it went inside the forest.
Locals informed the forest department, The forest officals reached the spot and tranqulise the leopard. Later, they pulled the animal by tail and took it to a leopard rehabilitation centre in Khairabari for treatment.

The leopard suffered fractures on the waist. Meanwhile, animal lovers have criticised the way the leopard was handled by the foresters.
Ananda Wildlife Warden Seema Choudhury of Jalpaiguri said that the Leopard was wounded by the car as it crossed the road. Forest workers are searching the car. The car seems to have hit the Leopard waist and back or legs. Medical has been done. Currently the treatment of leopard
has started. The preliminary guess is that the leopard tigers have been hit behind or leg by foot.
