Beautiful Highland Cattle in spring pasture

Buy video

Highland Cattle are an old, long-haired, long-horned Scottish cattle breed with long, wavy coats that may be red, brindle, black, yellow, white, dun or silver. They originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Outer Hebrides where they were raised primarily for meat. They have a double coat of hair with the long outer hair covering their downy underfur. They have excellent tolerance to cold, but are not very tolerant of heat. Highland Cattle were imported into Australia in the 1840s but are not commonly kept and are still a curiosity. This small herd of Highland Cattle live in the beautiful Chittering Valley near Perth In Western Australia, where they were enjoying the mild Spring weather and lush pasture.
