Street food seller knocked over by driver who fell asleep at the wheel
This is the shocking moment a roadside food seller was knocked over in a hit and run - after the driver FELL ASLEEP at the wheel.
Dang Korjarern, 50, was just setting up her grilled chicken stand outside a factory in Chonburi, Thailand, last Friday (14/09) morning at 6am when the white pick-up truck approach.
The Isuzu D-Max is seen on CCTV veering across the road before clattering into the food stand - and sending Dang skidding across the ground.
Shockingly, the driver left the mother-of-two cowing on the ground. She picked herself up and was taken to hospital where she has since recovered.
Police launched a hunt for the driver who later handed himself in and admitted knocking Dang over then driving away.
Supon Runsoongnern, 45, told officers he had ''fallen asleep'' while he was driving to work in the morning.
He said: ''On the day of the accident I was going to work but I was falling asleep. I admit that I am at fault and I will take care of the injured woman and pay for her medical treatment until she is better. I'll help her until she's well enough to return to her work.''
Superintendent Decha Songhong from Nong Prue Police Station said that after the crash a warrant was issued for the driver's arrest.
He added: ''Mr Runsoongnern contacted police to identify himself as the driver. He will now be prosecuted for reckless driving causing serious injury and failing to stop the car to help the injured person.''
