Kite surfers enjoy the high winds during the start of Storm Helene in Cornwall this afternoon (September 17).

"The beach in front of St Michael's Mount in Cornwall, normally the perfect place for a picnic, is today the windswept playground of the thrill seekers!" said filmer Mike Newman.

As storm Helene approaches UK shores, the rising windspeed creates ever larger waves, increasing to gale force later tonight. Time to batten down the hatches for most, but for these extreme sports fans it's time to hit the sea with their kite surfing kit.
