Major thunderstorms and tornadoes continued to plague North Carolina following Hurricane Florence's landfall late last week.

Across the Carolinas, several river gauges have reached a "major" flood stage, the National Weather Service said, with authorities issuing evacuation orders for residents within the area.

At least 35 people have died in storm-related incidents, and more than 343,000 people are still without power in North Carolina.

After the hurricane passed and the flood waters started rising, Fayetteville saw additional major storms including tornados in Fayetteville, during the recovery efforts of city officials and utility workers.
