A bizarre and nail-biting fight-to-the-death between a mongoose and a spectacled cobra in Uttar Pradesh, northern India.

The mongoose, whose name may or may not be Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, dashes up to the reptile, lunging at it with its teeth, while the cobra stays in a defensive stance.

The mongoose pulls the snake around, refusing to back away from the reptile, retreting and returning to attack from a different direction.

Drivers stand at a distance and allow them to fight while they watch and record the event on their mobile phones.

Eventually the animal gets scared off by a loud bus horn and runs away leaving the snake right in the middle of the road.

Rickshaws, trucks, bikes and cars move around the cobra, leaving it unharmed.

A nail biting battle in between a spectacled cobra and a mongoose has been captured on the camera by a road user who spotted both of them fighting in the middle of a road bringing the traffic to a standstill in the highway near Ambuj Nagar in Uttar Pradesh in India.
In the video, the snake and the mongoose can be seen in the middle of the road fighting while a mongoose is on the ground arching up for the snake.
Right from the beginning the mongoose can be seen attacking the reptile while the snake stays in the defensive mode protecting itself from its rival.
The mongoose can be seen pulling the snake as the animal refuses to let go of the grip of the reptile. The mongoose retreats and comes back attacking the slippery animal from the other direction.
The fight in between them seems so aggressive that the road users stand at a distance and allow them to fight while they watch and record the event on their mobile phones.
It then holds by its neck and tries pulling it toward the edge of the road but the snake remains firm to the ground in spite of repeated attack by the rival animal.
The mongoose continues attacking the reptile till it gets scared by the heavy horn of the bus and runs away leaving its prey right in the middle of the road.
The snake can then be seen left alone as buses, trucks, bikes and cars continue moving by the side leaving the snake unharmed.
